The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer is one of the more interesting Carreras I've had in hand. There is a lot going on here, but the colors and details come together remarkably well.
The dial is what makes the watch. The warm cream background is paired with gold-tone hands and applied markers, while turquoise and orange accents give the Seafarer displays a completely different personality from a standard Carrera. I especially like the tide indicator at 9 o'clock. It's an unusual complication, but visually it's also one of the coolest parts of the watch.
Despite all of the information on the dial, it doesn't feel overly busy. The chronograph registers are nicely integrated, the date stays tucked away at 6, and the flashes of turquoise and orange are concentrated enough that they add personality without taking over the entire watch.
The case is classic modern Carrera with sharp, angular lugs, pump-style chronograph pushers, and a relatively thin bezel that lets the dial dominate the watch. I think the combination works especially well here because the case itself stays fairly restrained while the dial gets to have some fun.
This example also gives you three very different ways to wear it. The TAG Heuer textile strap pictured here might be my favorite pairing. The neutral color works beautifully with the cream dial, and the turquoise stitching picks up the accents almost perfectly. It honestly looks like the strap was designed around the dial.
It also includes an unworn TAG Heuer bracelet for a more traditional Carrera look, along with an additional aftermarket turquoise strap if you want to lean all the way into the color.
On the wrist, this is just a fun watch. It's distinctive without being ridiculous, and there are enough small details that I find myself noticing something different every time I look at it. If you like Carreras but want something considerably less predictable than the standard chronograph, this is a really good one.
Condition
This presents in excellent condition. The only wear of note are slight strap changing marks on the back of the case.
The watch is keeping excellent time on a timegrapher and does not require service at this time.
