For sale is the IWC Big Pilot Heritage, reference IW501004, a stripped-down take on the Big Pilot that leans heavily into its instrument roots.
At 46mm, this is a large watch, but it’s not trying to hide that. The Titanium case is matte-finished, lightweight, and purpose-built. It wears big, but it’s not heavy, and the proportions feel intentional rather than excessive.
The dial is where this one stands out. Deep black with warm, vintage-toned lume, oversized Arabic numerals, and that signature triangle at 12. It’s clean, highly legible, and has the look of a proper cockpit instrument. The small seconds at 3 and the date at 6 are integrated in a way that doesn’t disrupt the balance.
Everything about it is easy to read at a glance. There are no distractions or unnecessary details. It’s a very focused layout that does exactly what it’s supposed to do.
The oversized crown is another defining feature. It’s functional, easy to grip, and adds to the overall character of the watch without feeling like a gimmick.
Inside is the IWC Caliber 52110, an automatic movement with a 7-day power reserve. It’s built for long, consistent operation and fits the watch well. Set it once and it keeps going.
On the wrist, this has a strong presence. It’s not subtle, but it doesn’t feel loud either. It’s the kind of watch that feels more like equipment than jewelry.
Condition: This example will come in good, used condition. There are a few minor blemishes on the case in the form of abrasions. There is a bit of rash at 2:00 on the bezel. There is one small ding on the case side at 10:00. There is no notable wear on the crystal or dial. The Santoni leather strap has developed a very nice patina and still has a lot of life left. One of the leather strap keepers appears to have been stored twisted. It is a bit misshapen, but does not affect functionality. All flaws have been intentionally exaggerated and do not take away from this watch while on the wrist. It is keeping excellent time according to the timegraph. It does not require a service at this time.
